Juice Bar Review: Juice N Go

Yesterday was my 5th time ever coming to this Juice Bar, and the fact that I kept returning already is a good sign of this blog. What sets this juice bar apart from other juice bars that I’ve seen, is that there is only a drivethru (this isn’t a dine in place) hence the name “Juice N Go”. What I love most about this place is that they give you the option to customize your juices and smoothies which is what I’m looking into including in my juice bar once it opens. Some people are comfortable having a choice made available for them, while others want to replace and swap things and create their own smoothie and juice to their liking. Therefore, having that option, to me, is a BIG plus. Also what I love about this place is that they specialize in using Acai in their smoothies, juices, and they even have smoothie bowls. A lot of places have Acai berries on their menu, but this place put acai on a pedestal and base a majority of the things on the menu around Acai berries.

Acai (uh-sah-ee) is berries produced by a palm tree grown in the floodplain areas of the Amazing River in Brazil; and one of the healthiest berry you can find. These berries are an immune-stimulating, energy boosting and healing fruit that is rich in anti-flammatory omega-9 fats while composing little sugar, essential fatty acids, iron, calcium, fiber, vitamin A and other antioxidants.

Some health benefits I’ve learned about Acai berries are:

  1. Promotes heart health
  2. Reduces risk of cancer
  3. Helps with weight loss
  4. Promotes skin health (and anti-again effects)
  5. Helps digestion
  6. Improves mental health

I got their #14 smoothie which contained mixed berries, acai, ginger, with an apple juice base. It was very sweet, so if you’re not into SWEET smoothies and want more of a balance, then you may not like this choice of smoothie. I liked it and would order this one again, however, if I had the option, I would prefer there be a balance of something less sweet mixed in this smoothie; something like a lemon.

I don’t have a picture of my boyfriend’s smoothie but he order #12 smoothie that contained strawberry, banana, acai, and an apple juice base. He liked his more than he liked mine. lol But from tasting this one, I’d definitely recommend it if you love the boldness that bananas bring to smoothies.

All in all, I love this place and would recommend this place for everyone to try!!

This place is very small and easy to miss but is located in a shopping center on Rainbow & Oakey:

Face Your Fears!

I just wanted to share this video that my boyfriend showed me yesterday from my favorite actor (Will Smith) and come to find out, a really great motivational speaker. We’re human, so it’s natural for us to hesitate taking that first step without knowing what exactly will come after that. We so badly are quick to dismiss it, not knowing that one step that we take could be the first step to everything we ever wanted.

We fear being truthful to ourselves because it would mean we actually have to look in the mirror instead of pointing the finger. Fear is our biggest killer. Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. The challenge is letting go of it. We fear failure yet in the same sentence we fear success. We fear being alone yet we fear falling in love. We fear change yet we dislike what is at the present. The list goes on and affects every aspect of our lives, personal, professional, emotional and even physical. We are our own worst enemy. We refuse to take our circumstance into our own hands yet we complain about lack of abundance and unhappiness. Fear is a natural part of life.

This video stuck with me and is so relevant to my life being that I am a worry-wart and fearful of failing. As I’m getting more in depth with working towards being all that I want to be and teaching myself all that I want to know, I’ve become more innovative… almost like my life has a new meaning. I used to be so scared to do things out of my comfort zone because of fear. That thought and feeling has diminished. I have to fall in order to learn, I have to fail in order to succeed.

Scripture of the Day:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”    Jeremiah 29:11-13

Juice Recipe: Orange you Thirsty?

Another thirst quenching, soothing juice that I made (and made the name up, as I’m sure you can tell). I’ve been experimenting with different fruits and juices to get a nutritional yet tasty juice. I’ve been especially trying to find an orange juice that I liked and finally came across one that I would recommend and eventually be able to share.

What’s in the Juice? :

  • 1 Navel Orange
  • 1 1/2 inch piece of ginger
  • 1 whole carrot
  • Half of a large grapefruit

  1. Oranges: We all know oranges are rich in Vitamin C, but it’s also rich in fiber and supports your immune system.
  2. Ginger: (I’ve mentioned the health benefits of ginger in my previous juice blog) But to shorten it up, this is commonly used for for lowering cholesterol and various types of stomach problems; i.e digestive problems, nausea, menstrual cramps, gas, etc.
  3. Carrots: is an immune booster, improves eyesight and rich in potassium (which regulates your heart beat, blood pressure and blood sugar).
  4. Grapefruit: My favorite superfood. (I also mentioned its benefits in my previous juice blog) but to keep it simple, this is a fat burning fruit, excellent for fiber and rich in Vitamin C.

**side note: Veggies and fruit are both healthy, nutritious and essential to include in your diet, however, veggies are much more healthier than fruit. The main reason being is because fruits have more sugar. Also, because veggies contain are higher concentration of the micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients) that are essential for good health. So without say, the more veggies in juice and smoothies, the better.

**personal note: I hate using the word diet. Why? Because it reminds me of a temporary boring and super strict eating habit. Just choose be healthier with healthier foods, make/swap healthier food options for the food you love; live and love that lifestyle. Allow yourself to indulge in the foods you like here and there, just don’t take it too far.
